Since arriving on the field, the Tate’s have been able to establish a fourfold ministry to reach the Honduran people:
Church planting – In 2004 the Light of the World Baptist Church was established in the town of Ojojona, south of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. Since then they have helped start a church in the town of Campamento, Olancho and have recently moved to the city of Danli to join a team of missionaries and nationals in establishing churches in the eastern part of Honduras.
Bible Institute – In order to plant churches in Honduras, nationals must be trained. To accomplish the Bethlehem Baptist Seminary was established. Land has been purchased and there are plans to expand this ministry into a full time Bible College.
School and Feeding Ministry – Through their soulwinning efforts, the Lord has given the Tate’s the opportunity plant churches in areas of extreme poverty. The work in Ojojona has been blessed with a feeding center for the children of the area that are malnourished. A new work in the neighborhood of Los Robles, in the city Danli is being expanded to accommodate both a feeding center as well as a full time elementary school for those children that live in extreme poverty and do not have the resources to attend the local public schools.
Camp Ministry – Beginning in 2015, we began a new ministry in the city of Danli. As the number of churches being planted increases, the number of young people being reached will increased. We held our first teen camp at a rented facility and had over 70 in attendance from 3 different churches. Shortly after the event, 12 acres was purchased on which to establish a fully functioning camp as well as house facilities for the Bible College.
